You may of heard of Pressure Regulated Volume Control, but what is it really? How should I use it? This video and accompanying infographic will give you what you need to know.
Infographic: Perks & Perils of PRVC

The Debrief
- PRVC is an adaptive form of pressure control that allows the patient to control flow, while still targeting a set tidal volume by adjusting the provided inspiratory pressure
- This can be beneficial if the patient is weaning, and detrimental if work of breathing is very high, as they will receive little or no support

Thank you for posting this I found this video was very helpful! I am a nurse with less than a years experience working in the ICU and the standard ventilator setting used at my hospital is PRVC. I have seen several COVID patients in ARDS that are asynchronous with the vent but they continue to try to make PRVC work. It definitely seems to be a great setting for weaning though.
